Fishing Report 4/16/14

The dry fly fishing in the Black Hills and surrounding area continues to be spectacular, and has continued to build steam over the past few weeks! The fishing in town has been great, with some larger fish eating BWO's and midges lately. Fish have been rising later that they were before, and have been looking up until 5 or 6 most days. Some productive flies have been Students, Low Water Baetis, Smoke Jumpers, CDC Thorax Duns, and Brook's Sprout Emergers have been doing well lately. If you can't get them on dries, put a small dropper on below them, such as a zebra midge, Psycho nymph, or Two Bit Hooker. Below Pactola has been good as well for dry fly fishing, and the nymphing has been good also. UV Czechs, G-Strings, Split Case BWO's, Two Bits, and Bubble Backs have been the ticket for nymphs. Spearfish Creek and Silver City are both high and off color, but the higher you progress up the drainages, the clearer it will get. Most other creeks have been fishing well also! Overall, the fishing has been great, and will continue to get nothing but better. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to give us a shout at the shop, we're here every day!
