Tying the Sparkle Dun

Posted on July 5, 2012 by admin in Dry Flies, Fly Tying Video - No Comments

The Sparkle Dun, a comparadun style dry fly, is an extremely versatile pattern for imitating mayfly duns. By changing the size and color of the pattern, it is easy to mimic many species of mayflies.

Learning to tie the wing on a Sparkle Dun correctly takes some practice. Using the correct type of hair makes a big difference. For all Sparkle Duns I prefer the comparadun deer hair from Nature’s Spirit. It’s length and texture are great for comparadun style wings.
